Your data,
and how we handle it.
This policy explains what data NADA Build collects, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

Who we are
NADA Build is the commercial product of the NADA project: a native-language IDE and a set of free editor plugins for reading, writing, and running real code in your own human language. The paid app funds the open NADA language standard maintained by the non-profit NADA project.
For the purposes of data-protection law, nada.build is operated by Chris Shelley and Rev Miller. A for-profit entity is pending; none is registered yet. For any question about this policy or your data, email chris@nadalang.org.
The short version
The whole policy in five lines:
- If you join the newsletter, we store your email address and nothing else.
- If you buy a paid tier, our payment processor handles your account and payment details.
- The IDE keeps your code on your machine. NADA does not upload your code.
- We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking.
- You can ask to access, export, or delete your data at any time.
What we collect
We collect as little as the product needs. Here is the full list, grouped by why we have it.
Newsletter email
If you sign up for launch news, we store the email address you enter and the date you subscribed. That record is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database (D1 is Cloudflare’s managed SQL database) operated for nada.build. We use it only to send the updates you asked for. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.
Account & payment data (paid tiers only)
The free plugins, every language, and the basic features need no account and no card. If you choose a paid tier (Learner or Pro), you create an account and pay through a third-party payment processor. That processor handles your billing details, such as your card number, on its own systems; we do not see or store full card numbers. We keep the minimum needed to provide your plan: your account email, your plan and its status, and a billing reference.

Basic technical & usage data
Our hosting (Cloudflare) processes basic request data, such as your IP address and browser type, to serve pages and protect the site from abuse. We use this for security and to understand, in aggregate, how the site is performing. We do not use it to build an advertising profile of you. [TO CONFIRM: analytics tool, if any, and whether it is cookieless]
Your code stays on your machine
The NADA Build IDE and editor plugins keep your code local. NADA does not upload, copy, or store your source code on our servers. Showing the words in your code in your language happens on your own machine. There is no English copy of your project on a server.
NADA Build AI is the one feature that must send data off your machine. When you ask the AI to explain, write, or run code, the relevant content of that request is sent to the model so it can answer. We send only what is needed to fulfil your request, and we do not use your private project content to train models. [TO CONFIRM: AI sub-processor(s), data retention by the model provider, and the training-opt-out commitment]
How we use what we collect
We use the data above only for these purposes:
- To send you the newsletter you subscribed to.
- To create your account, run your subscription, and take payment (paid tiers).
- To answer the NADA Build AI requests you make.
- To keep the service secure and to prevent fraud and abuse.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the product is used so we can improve it.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal data.
No third-party ad tracking
nada.build carries no advertising, no advertising pixels, and no cross-site tracking networks. We do not embed third-party trackers, and we do not share your data with ad networks or data brokers. The product is funded by paid tiers.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it. Your newsletter email is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Account and billing records are kept for the life of your account, and afterwards for as long as we are legally required to retain financial records. [TO CONFIRM: exact retention periods, esp. statutory billing retention]
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- Access — ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Export — receive that data in a portable, machine-readable form.
- Correct — have inaccurate data fixed.
- Delete — ask us to erase your data (“the right to be forgotten”).
- Object — withdraw consent or object to certain processing.
To exercise any of these, email chris@nadalang.org [TO CONFIRM: dedicated privacy contact, e.g. privacy@nada.build] and we will respond within the time the law allows. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children
NADA Build is a tool for learning and building, and younger learners often use it through a school, bootcamp, or family. The paid tiers and the newsletter are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child below the age of consent in their country without the involvement of a parent, guardian, or school. [TO CONFIRM: minimum age & how classroom/school accounts handle minors]
If you believe a child has given us personal data without the right consent, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
NADA serves people in every country, and the services we rely on (such as Cloudflare) run on a global network. Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. When we transfer personal data across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to keep it protected to the standard described in this policy. [TO CONFIRM: transfer mechanism & the regions where data is stored]
Changes to this policy
As NADA Build adds new tiers, features, or providers, this policy will change with it. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify subscribers. The version on this page is always the current one.
